The White House urges China not to support Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin and Russia's war against Ukraine. This was stated by the coordinator of strategic communications in the National Security Council of the White House, John Kirby, Sky News reports.
Kirby commented on the first meeting between Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Uzbekistan since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine. He said that now is not the time to do business with Russia, and the whole world should come out against it.
"We don't think anyone should be left out. The whole world needs to stand up against what Mr. Putin is doing. Now is not the time for business as usual with him," Kirby said.
It is worth noting that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit is taking place in the Uzbek city of Samarkand. It is attended by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Iran and Pakistan.
