More than 40 nations pledged in Lugano to support Ukraine's recovery

Representatives of more than 40 countries, together with multilateral organizations such as the European Investment Bank and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, signed the Lugansk Declaration on the reconstruction of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Government Portal.

The adopted declaration states that the draft Ukraine-led recovery and development plan, which was presented at an international conference in Lugano on Monday, is recognized as the main framework document setting the direction for Ukraine's recovery process.

The declaration focuses on providing Ukraine with political, financial and technical support.

"Heads of state and government, ministers and high representatives have pledged to support Ukraine on its road to recovery - from inception to long-term recovery. On behalf of the entire Ukrainian people, I want to thank them for this," Prime Minister Denis Shmygal commented.

He noted that all conference participants supported the establishment of a coordination platform between the Government of Ukraine and all bilateral and multilateral partners, organizations and international financial institutions for the preparation and implementation of the recovery plan.

Swiss President Ignazio Cassis, during the closing session of the recovery conference, stressed that the seven principles of Lugano are the basis of the declaration, which define the criteria and methods of recovery: partnership, focus on reforms, transparency, accountability, the rule of law, democratic participation, multi-stakeholder engagement, gender equality and inclusion, sustainable development.

The signing of the declaration took place after a two-day conference in the Swiss city of Lugano on the reconstruction of Ukraine.
