Increasing the circle of those who are "for" the candidacy for Ukraine in the EU - Zelensky

During his evening address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that he is trying to increase the circle of those who are "for" the candidacy for Ukraine in the European Union.

"Today was a day of very active foreign policy work - almost a marathon of telephone conversations. Increase the circle of those who are "for" the candidacy for Ukraine and add confidence that the decision on Friday will be positive, "- said Zelensky.

According to the head of state, he held talks with representatives of eight EU member states, and they supported Ukraine's candidacy to the union.

"In a conversation with the Prime Minister of Slovakia we coordinated our positions on the eve of the meeting of the European Council... I thanked the President of Lithuania for the decision of the Trimorje summit to grant Ukraine the status of a member state and also coordinated our steps," the statement reads.

The guarantor added that he spoke with the prime ministers of Hungary, Portugal, Spain, Denmark, Ireland and Croatia.

"My schedule for tomorrow is as busy as it is today. I will do everything to make sure that the historic decision of the European Union is made. It is important for us," Zelensky added.

It should be noted that the EU Heads of State and Government will discuss Ukraine's application for EU membership at the summit on June 23-24.
