Negotiations between Zelensky and Putin "tomorrow or the day after tomorrow" should not be expected - Podolyak

Negotiations between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin exactly today is not the time. This was said to "Radio Svoboda" by Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

"I do not see that today can be done literally tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, as Turkey says about it... Unfortunately, we have to wait a little longer. Negotiations between the two presidents exactly today is still not the right time. Maybe later, they will be," Podolyak said.

Podolyak noted that they want Ukraine's position in these negotiations to be very, very strong.

"We just have a strong-willed president: that is, he wants to come to the negotiations and behave the way he should behave - as a leader of a really global plan. And he has to have a very powerful legal position. We have to prepare it," Podolyak said.

In addition, he said that the negotiation process is slower because after the Istanbul communiqué we received absolutely exhaustive materials about direct war crimes by the Russian Federation in the Kiev region: in a number of our cities and towns.

"This is the first thing that significantly affected the emotional background. The second component is that the Russian federation (no matter what anyone says) still has enough resources to conduct active hostilities in the east of the country. And they want to win some tactical victories to show that they can fight so that they will continue to be feared. So far I don't see any grounds for a face-to-face meeting," Podolyak said.
