U.S. to allocate additional $300 million in military aid to Ukraine - Pentagon

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said that the U.S. will allocate additional military aid to Ukraine in the amount of 300 million dollars.

This is reported by Reuters.

Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Friday night that the equipment in the new package includes laser-guided missile systems, unmanned aerial vehicles, armored vehicles, night vision equipment and ammunition.

Also included are medical supplies, field equipment and spare parts. Kirby said the new package "represents the beginning of the contracting process to provide new capabilities" to Ukraine, rather than supplying equipment taken from U.S. military stocks.

"The United States Department of Defense will provide up to $300 million in security assistance to support Ukraine's defense capabilities," Kirby said in an official statement.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in a conversation with U.S. President Joe Biden, briefed him on the status of negotiations with Russia.

The Ukrainian and US leaders discussed the US efforts in assisting Ukraine and the impact on the defence of the weapons provided to the Ukrainian side. In his turn, Biden said that he planned to provide Ukraine with direct budget aid worth 500m dollars.
