Ukraine at the talks with Russia, which are held on Monday, February 28, in Belarus, demands an end to hostilities and the complete withdrawal of Russian troops. This was stated by Alexei Arestovich, advisor to the head of the Presidential Office, on the air of the "Real Time" TV channel, reports Korrespondent.
Arestovich said that in accordance with international conventions, including the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the course of negotiations is not covered until the parties have issued a general communiqué.
"Let's not violate. Our position is roughly clear: no conditions or ultimatums," he said.
According to him, the first time Kiev refused to participate in the negotiations because the Russian side wanted to come in "from the side: you capitulate there, and then we will talk to you."
"We laughed heartily in the Office and refused to negotiate the first time. When they asked the second time, and the very fact that they asked us first to negotiate speaks volumes, from my point of view, and promised to remove the preconditions, we agreed to it," Arestovich said.
He noted that Ukraine's conditions are clear - a cease-fire and the withdrawal of all Russian troops from Ukrainian territory, and this is on the table from the Ukrainian side.
Responding to clarifying questions, Arestovich said that this includes the withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Crimea and Donbass.
"All troops from the territory of Ukraine. They will bury everyone anyway, so it is better to leave voluntarily. You have no idea what is going on here. We have more than 100,000 reservists in one day," he concluded.
At the same time, later in his commentary to the media, Arestovich stated that this was his personal opinion, not that of the Presidential Office.
