The permanent chairman of Ukraine at the United Nations (UN), Serhiy Kyslytsya, speaking at a UN Security Council meeting in New York, stated Ukraine's demand to reverse Russia's decision to recognize the "DPR" and "LPR".
"Russia must abandon its long-standing strategy toward Ukraine based on the threat of force against Ukraine's sovereignty and declare its commitment to the basic principles of the UN Charter. We demand that the Russian Federation reverse its decision to recognize the so-called "DPR" and "LPR" and return to the negotiating table. We condemn the deployment of new Russian occupation troops on Ukrainian territory. We demand their immediate withdrawal," Kyslytsya said.
He also added that Ukraine urged the Russian Federation to once again carefully read the statement of the UN Secretary General, in which the Russian decision to recognize the "DPR" and "LPR" was called a violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, contrary to the UN Charter.
Kyslytsya stressed that Ukraine is committed to the peaceful diplomatic way of resolving the situation in Donbas and will not deviate from it.
He also asked the UN Secretary General to do everything possible to resolve the situation in Donbas, noting that Ukraine's internationally recognized borders have been and will remain unchanged regardless of any statements and actions by the Russian president.
"The recognition of the temporarily occupied parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine can be seen as Russia's unilateral withdrawal from the Minsk agreements and as non-compliance with the decisions made in the Normandy format. These actions undermine the peace efforts in the negotiation process. Russia's political leadership bears full responsibility for the results of the decision," he said.
"Ukrainians are on their territory, we are not afraid of anyone and we will not give anything to anyone, because it is not February 2014, but February 2022. Another country, another army and one goal - peace in Ukraine, in Europe, in the world," Kislitsa summarized.
