Volodymyr Zelensky took part in the first negotiations in the Lublin Triangle format

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has held a video conference with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda and Polish President Andrzej Duda, the official website of the Ukrainian president has reported.

The head of state noted the symbolism of the talks, which take place in the days when Ukraine celebrates the 30th anniversary of recognition of its independence by Poland and Lithuania.

"The fact that Poland and Lithuania were among the first to recognize our independence is no coincidence. Today, when Russia temporarily occupied part of our territory - the Crimean peninsula - and when we have a difficult situation, a war in the east of our state, you are also the first to support Ukraine, our sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity," stressed Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The presidents discussed and positively assessed the state and dynamics of interstate relations, the strategic nature of which is confirmed by the specific and significant content of interaction. They also praised the activities of the trilateral cooperation mechanisms, especially the joint Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian brigade.

The leaders of Poland and Lithuania confirmed their full support of Ukraine's course towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration. They have also noted the progress of our country in carrying out transformations, in particular, the importance of steps against oligarchic structures on the way of our country's approaching the standards of EU and NATO membership.

The Heads of State were also unanimous about the importance of maintaining coordinated and effective sanctioning pressure on the Russian Federation by the international community until the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine is fully restored.

The security threat posed by Nord Stream 2 to the region and Europe as a whole was discussed separately. The parties agreed to continue coordinating joint efforts to oppose this geopolitical project.

As a result of the talks, the presidents of Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland approved a joint statement.
