The current blackouts may continue in Ukraine until August. This was stated by Yuriy Boyko, a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo, at a press conference.

“If we talk about the restrictions that began a day ago, we will have to live in these conditions, according to my estimates, until August. In August-September, I expect a slight improvement due to a different set of factors,” said Boyko.

And winter, he said, will be “inevitably difficult” and it will not be possible to avoid a deficit in the power system even in warm weather.

In addition, Yasno director Serhiy Kovalenko said that Ukraine “chronically lacks generation and imports for the current level of consumption.”

He said that at night and in the morning, the situation was worse than predicted, so the schedules were not followed and there were emergency power outages.

“We really hope that this will not happen in the evening and we will be able to go through the next peak calmly, at least in the schedules,” the statement said.

As we reported earlier, power outage schedules are now in effect throughout Ukraine.
