Ukrainian authorities are taking new steps to persuade the United States to lift the ban on the use of American weapons for strikes on Russia. This was reported by Politico.
A group of Ukrainian parliamentarians is in Washington this week to to get the support of Congress in solving this issue. They argue that the restriction on the use of American weapons complicates Ukraine's military operations as it tries to strike Russian military targets abroad.
According to Politico, the administration of US President Joe Biden said that the long-range weapons provided to Ukraine are intended for defense, not for attacking Russian territory.
The head of the Servant of the People faction, David Arakhamia, emphasized that the main problem is the White House's policy, which limits Ukraine's ability to attack military targets within Russia.
The Russian offensive is taking advantage of manpower problems and the lack of properly prepared defensive structures near Kharkiv, threatening a city of one million people and possibly creating a new strategic point for Russia on Ukrainian territory.
