On Monday, May 6, Poland used its fighter jets to intercept a Russian Il-20 military aircraft over the Baltic Sea. This is stated on the Twitter page of the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
According to the report, two MiG-29s from the 22nd Tactical Aviation Base in Malbork were involved in the interception and visual identification of the Russian Il-20 aircraft.
The command noted that the Russian Il-20 aircraft flew in international space over the Baltic Sea on a reconnaissance mission and did not intrude into Polish territorial waters.
This is not the first time that this aircraft has been intercepted by Polish fighters, the last time it happened on May 3 with a pair of F-16s.
