According to the information published in the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the Italian government plans to approve the 9th military aid package for Ukraine before the G7 summit on June 13. This package will include the SAMP/T air defense system.


According to the decision of the government under the leadership of Giorgia Meloni, Italy is going to give Ukraine one of the SAMP/T systems that it previously lent to Slovakia. Some other systems will be used to protect the G7 summit venue.


In addition, the new aid package will also include artillery equipment. Although there is opposition from Matteo Salvini's Lega, the package is expected to receive enough votes to pass in parliament.
