Electricity tariffs should be raised to at least 3.5 UAH/kWh, but not for everyone - MP

During a telethon, MP Oleksiy Kucherenko said that electricity tariffs for population should be raised to at least 3.5 UAH/kWh. He explained that during the war the tariff cannot be lower than the cost of electricity.

"I would not touch low-income people in this matter. If we limit their consumption, for example, to 150 kWh/month, they can be left alone. As for those who consume more than this limit, I think there should be a tariff of at least UAH 3.5/kWh," the MP said.

Kucherenko believes that if the electricity tariff is not increased, the funds will have to be subsidized in other sectors, such as the army, medicine, etc.

"I looked in Poland. They really have two levels. One is up to two thousand kW per year. This is budgetary. And there are places where people consume more, there it's about the market tariff," Kucherenko said.

He said that Poland has a separate tariff for large families and farmers. While in Ukraine, it is the same for everyone. In his opinion, this "complicates the situation".
