It is important for Slovakia that aid to Ukraine is bilateral - Fico

The most important thing for Slovakia at the upcoming extraordinary summit of the European Council is to ensure that military aid to Ukraine is a bilateral issue. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico in the Tasr publication.

He noted that the summit, which will take place on April 17-18, will focus primarily on the single market and competitiveness, as well as the situation in the Middle East and Ukraine.

In the context of Ukraine, he said, the summit will discuss the supply of air defense systems. Fico noted that Slovakia has nothing more to give to Ukraine and criticized the previous government for providing Ukraine with the S-300 system. He said he would never have done so.

However, if the summit puts forward provisions that such support is a bilateral matter, Fico will not attack them.

"At the upcoming extraordinary EU summit, the most important thing for Slovakia is to get a guarantee that military aid to Ukraine is a matter of bilateral relations," he said.

He also referred to the joint meeting of the governments of Slovakia and Ukraine, pointing to the various forms of assistance Slovakia provides to Ukraine, for example, assistance in demining.

At the same time, he repeated that the war in Ukraine, in his opinion, has no military solution.
