The interim head of the Ministry of Culture, Rostyslav Karandieiev ,called the hate around the topic of booking cultural and media workers disrespectful to people in this field and a "primitive assessment of their social significance."
As a reminder, the day before, the Ministry added the Mobile Circus of Ukraine to the list of enterprises that are considered critical for ensuring the livelihood of the population during mobilization. On the same day, criticism of the decree spread on social media.
Karandieiev responded by noting that the state enterprise "Directorate of Mobile Circus Troupes of Ukraine" is "not a street tent, as someone imagines, but a professional team of highly skilled masters of their craft" and is the only institution that holds performances in the most remote communities where people are unable to attend cultural events.
According to him, the "Directorate of Mobile Circus Troupes of Ukraine" has only booked 14 people, which is less than 10% of the total number. Another eight employees of this enterprise, the head of the Ministry of Culture added, serve in the Armed Forces.
In addition, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the algorithm for booking cultural and media workers established by the government has not changed - the ministry books employees of theaters, music institutions, circuses, without whom the work of these institutions is impossible, Karandieiev noted.
Regarding the reservation of media workers from the mobilization, he said that the Ukrainian media are "a source of truthful information and a pillar of Ukraine's national security."
