The Neutron Source nuclear facility in Kharkiv was de-energized on Thursday, April 4. The reason for this is shelling. This was reported by the press service of the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine.

The National Research Center "Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology" reported that the Neutron Source nuclear subcritical facility lost external power supply at 08:30 today. This was preceded by a Russian attack.

As noted, there is no threat to the environment and people. The emergency power supply system operated normally, and emergency diesel generators were switched on. The radiation situation at the nuclear facility site is within normal limits.

It should be noted that the world's only scientific subcritical nuclear facility, the Neutron Source, and a nuclear material storage facility are located in Kharkiv on the territory of the National Science Center Kharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology". It is intended for conducting scientific and applied research in nuclear physics, radiation materials science, biology, chemistry, as well as for the production of medical radioisotopes.
