Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson is looking for the best options for resolving the issue of allocating financial assistance to Ukraine. This was stated by Republican Congressman Matt Gates in CNN.
"I gave the speaker some advice. We have to take a fighting stance. And I was very pleased with the way the speaker took that advice. The speaker wants to increase the list of Republican victories in the House, and we should start doing that. I'm glad the Speaker hasn't gone back on additional aid to Ukraine, and I think he's paving the best way forward on this issue as we speak," Gates said.
CNN reports that Johnson's future in office largely depends on how he resolves the issue of a large financial aid package for Ukraine.
It is known that he is actively working on developing his strategy on this issue.
At the same time, the Democrats are ready to support Johnson in exchange for the passage of a bill on Ukraine that they will support.
However, some Democrats emphasize that any unacceptable conditions could alienate both Democrats and right-wing Republicans, which could affect his future career.
