Republican Party leader Steve Scalise said that Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson is in talks with the White House about financial aid for Ukraine. This was reported by the AP news agency.

Scalise told reporters that Johnson discussed with White House officials a package that would differ from the $95 billion support package proposed by the Senate and include several Republican demands.

"No agreement was reached. Obviously, an agreement has to be reached not only with the White House, but also with our own members," Scalise said.

In addition, the Republican speaker intends to travel to former US President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago club in Florida on Friday for a meeting.

Johnson has been consulting with him in recent weeks on Ukraine funding to gain his support - or at least to prevent him from openly opposing the package, the agency emphasizes.
