Poles lift blockade at Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint, - SBGS spokesman

Polish farmers have stopped blocking truck traffic in the direction of the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint. As of March 21, four areas of the border with Poland remain blocked. Andriy Demchenko, a spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, said this during a telethon.

According to him, Ukrainian border guards received information about the end of the blockade at about 9:30 p.m. the day before from representatives of the Polish Border Guard. Registration of trucks began to be carried out in the usual manner.

Four directions remain blocked for truck traffic - Yagodyn, Ustyluh, Uhryniv and Rava Ruska.

Trucks from Ukraine to Poland are still not allowed to cross at Rava Ruska and Yagodyn. In the direction of Yagodyn, the protesters let through a rather small number of trucks traveling to Ukraine, the SBGS representative said. Over the past day, there were only 50 such trucks, which is a critically low figure for this direction, he said.

As of the morning of March 21, almost 850 trucks are in queues at the blocked directions in Poland, most of them opposite Yagodyn and Rava Ruska.

Queues remain in other areas of the western border as well, as carriers choose other destinations due to complications on the border with Poland. In particular, there is a queue of 1,000 trucks in front of the Tisa checkpoint in Hungary, another 530 trucks are in line in front of the Uzhhorod checkpoint in Slovakia, and almost 400 vehicles are on the Romanian-Ukrainian border in front of the Porubne checkpoint.
