GUR comments on breakthrough of the Russian border by volunteers (UPDATED)

Russian volunteers who broke through the Russian border on Tuesday, March 12, are acting autonomously. As Russian citizens, they have every right to do so. This was reported by the representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Yusov.

"Legion "Freedom of Russia", Russian Volunteer Corps (RDK), "Siberian Battalion" on the territory of the so-called Russian Federation act autonomously, as independent structures and organizations, fulfilling their socio-political tasks," he said.

Yusov added that it is likely that these structures are now operating jointly on this territory.

"After all, they are Russian citizens and have every right to do so," the intelligence officer stated.

The Main Directorate of Intelligence commented on the presence of weapons among the Russian volunteers who broke through the Russian border on March 12. They also explained the "phenomenon" of such raids, which are not the first time they have occurred. This was reported by the representative of the GUR Andriy Yusov on the air of Radio Liberty.

"A full-scale war has been going on in Ukraine for over 2 years. We are also talking about "trophy" weapons, "retrophied" weapons. If we are talking about actions as part of the Ukrainian security and defense forces, of course, it is Ukrainian weapons, Ukrainian-made. There are no secrets here," he added.

The representative of the GUR also answered why it is not the first time these battalions have managed to cross the Russian border.

"This is probably not a question of how the border is guarded, but how the relevant units plan their operations and in such conditions they manage, despite the fact that the enemy tries and reports that everything is protected, everything is under control, they manage to return home again and again and realize their tasks," the intelligence officer explained.
