US military will not fight in Ukraine, Zelensky never asked for it - Kirby

The United States of America will not send its troops to Ukraine for a war with Russia, Zelensky has never asked for it. This was stated at a briefing by John Kirby, Strategic Communications Coordinator for the White House National Security Council.

Kirby recalled that US President Joe Biden had been very clear from the very beginning: "There will be no American troops fighting on the battlefield within Ukraine."

"And you know what? President Zelensky is not asking for this. He is only asking for the means and capabilities," he added.

Kirby emphasized that Ukraine needs funds, and this is where the United States should help Kyiv. He noted that the US Congress should approve additional funding for Ukraine so that "we can continue our strong leadership and support in the coalition of more than 50 nations that the United States has gathered to support Ukraine."
