Lithuania will close two checkpoints on the border with Belarus

The Lithuanian government approved the closure of two checkpoints on the border with Belarus on Wednesday, February 21. This was reported by Delfi.

"On February 21, the government approved the closure of two checkpoints on the border with Belarus - Raigardas and Lavoriškės. They will be closed from March 1, 2024," the statement said.

It is noted that neither pedestrians nor vehicles will be able to move through these checkpoints.

From spring, the movement of pedestrians and cyclists through the Medininkai and Šalčininkai checkpoints will be restricted.

The Lithuanian government has also agreed to gradually reduce the number of permits for bus transportation for both Belarusian and Lithuanian carriers, and to restrict boarding and disembarking of passengers at the Kena railway station.
