Man killed in Spain really turned out to be Russian pilot Kuzminov - EFE (UPDATED)

The man killed in Spain is indeed Russian pilot Maxim Kuzminov. This was reported by the Spanish news agency EFE, citing its own sources close to the investigation.

Inconsistencies with the documents issued in the name of the 33-year-old Ukrainian have been clarified. The agency's sources claim that these documents did not match the identity of the murdered man. Kuzminov was a 28-year-old Russian, but probably used fake documents in Spain. It is not yet known who issued them.

Russian authorities have commented on the murder of pilot Kuzminov in Spain, according to Russian media. The statement was made by the director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin.

"You know, in Russia, it is customary to say either good or nothing about the dead. This traitor and criminal became a moral corpse at the very moment when he was planning his dirty and terrible crime," Naryshkin said.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov commented on the incident. He said that Kuzminov was offered to stay in Ukraine after the special operation with the stolen helicopter.

"Our country's proposal was for him to stay in Ukraine. He would definitely be protected here. And I don't think they (the Russians) could brawl here like they did in Spain," Danilov said.

He also urged to wait for the Spanish side's conclusions on the incident.

When asked whether Ukraine is responsible for Kuzminov's death, he replied: "Ukraine ensures compliance with the law on its territory. Accordingly, each country has its own legislation. And each country adheres to its own legislation in ensuring the safety of citizens on its territory."

"This is not the first time that Russians have behaved like this on the territory of the European Union, in other countries," he added.
