An attack damaged a substation in Pavlohrad, leaving about 30,000 consumers without electricity

A 330 kV substation of Ukrenergo in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region, was cut off at night as a result of an enemy attack. A fire broke out and damaged power equipment, the Ministry of Energy reports.

According to the press service, more than 53,000 household consumers in Pavlohrad and the surrounding areas, as well as industry - a plant and seven mines - were cut off from power.

At the time of the attack, more than 1,000 workers were underground in the mines. People were not brought to the surface - the mines and the plant were powered by a backup scheme. Later, the substation was powered by a diesel generator, the press service said.

The fire was extinguished and electricity consumers were partially supplied. However, due to the unreliability of the connection scheme, at 8 am, the consumers who had been supplied with power were cut off again, the Ministry of Energy said.

"Currently, about 30 thousand consumers in Pavlohrad and the surrounding areas are without power. Restoration works are underway," the statement said.
