Recently, Poland issued a warning about the activation of military aircraft along the border with Russia and Belarus. Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force Command, responded to this statement and said that Ukraine has no data on the increase in the activity of enemy aviation.
"When we hear about the border with Russia, we start looking to the east, but we remember that there is also the Kaliningrad region, where there is also Russian aviation. This is not something new. Now I don't have any data that there is a lot of activity," he said during the telethon.
According to him, the map is now virtually clear of air targets throughout the country, even in the occupied territory.
"Perhaps this is more related to weather conditions and so on. But Russian aviation can be anywhere. There is nothing surprising in this. When there is any activity on the other side of the border, there should be a counteraction," Ihnat said.
He added that even during air raids and missile attacks, the Polish army takes fighter jets into the sky to protect its borders.
"Well, if there is any activity, you have to respond to the enemy, react in some way. And for the Poles, Russia is definitely the same enemy as it is for us," Ihnat said.
For its part, the Polish Armed Forces said that yesterday's warning to civilian aircraft about the intensification of military aviation should not cause concern.
"This is a routine notification in cases where it is necessary to ensure the safety of traffic in Polish airspace. The message is intended to warn civilian airspace users about the possible intensification of combat aircraft in the east of the area, which is a reaction to the emergency situation on the eastern border," the Armed Forces said in a statement.
