President Volodymyr Zelensky said he would be "very happy" if Trump actually manages to end the war in 24 hours. He said this in an interview with the German TV channel ARD.
The journalist reminded Zelensky of Trump's words that he could end the war in 24 hours. And asked the President of Ukraine if he trusts Trump.
"Well, I will talk to him. And I'll tell you honestly - if his format or his formula leads to peace, and 24 hours is really enough for him, then I will be a very happy president. Very happy. Because I know how many people we lose in one day. I know how much it costs. So I will be happy if someone shows me how to end the war in 24 hours. Who knows," the president replied.
After that, the journalist asked whether Ukraine was in touch with Trump, to which Zelensky replied that he and the former US president had had one conversation during his visit to the United States.
"It was before Biden. I had a meeting when I was president and he was president. It was one meeting with our teams, a normal meeting, productive. However, there was a serious scandal after the meeting," Zelensky said.
