On January 26, the bodies and remains of 77 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine. They will be handed over to forensic experts to identify the victims. This was stated by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

"Another repatriation event has taken place, which resulted in the return of fallen servicemen to Ukraine: the bodies (remains) of 77 Ukrainian defenders have been returned to the territory controlled by the government of Ukraine," the statement said.

It is noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine will ensure the transportation of repatriated bodies and remains to designated state specialized institutions.

This process will also include the transfer to law enforcement and forensic experts for further identification of the victims.

It is important to note that the successful repatriation was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the Coordination Headquarters with the joint center at the SBU, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Armed Forces, the SES in Sumy region, the State Border Guard Service and other structures of the security and defense sector of Ukraine.

The Coordination Headquarters also expressed gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for their support.
