Zelensky submits a draft law on multiple citizenship to the Rada: for everyone except Russian citizens

On January 22, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will submit a draft law on multiple citizenship to the Rada. He stated this during his congratulation on the Day of Unity.

"Today, I am submitting a key draft law to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that will allow us to adopt comprehensive changes to the legislation and introduce the institution of multiple citizenship," he said.

According to Zelensky, this will allow all ethnic Ukrainians and their descendants from around the world, except for Russian citizens, to have Ukrainian citizenship.

"All those who were forced to leave their homeland during various waves of emigration and ended up in Europe, the United States, Canada, Asia, and Latin America. Everyone who helps us, despite being hundreds and thousands of kilometers away from their homeland. Foreign volunteers who have stood up to defend Ukrainians, all those who fight for the freedom of Ukraine as their homeland. And Ukraine will become such for them," the President added.
