Polish carriers blocking three checkpoints on the border with Ukraine will suspend their protest until March 1, according to an agreement between the protesters and the Polish government. This was reported by TVN24.
Polish Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak said on January 16 that the ministry had signed an agreement with the dissatisfied carriers. According to him, the agreement does not mean the end of the dialogue, but "intensive negotiations."
"This protest is interdisciplinary. It affects many areas of international politics and domestic policy. The complexity and intricacy of the issues led to negotiations and work lasting more than a month. The protest will be terminated by March 1," said the Minister of Infrastructure of Poland.
He added that "there is a lot of work to be done," but at the same time expressed hope that "constructive negotiations will bring a concrete result."
The leader of the protesters, Rafal Mekler, said that if the authorities and carriers fail to find a solution, they will return to the border.
He also added that the entire infrastructure of the protesters - containers and trailers - remains at the border.
