Zelensky has questions for Ukrainians abroad: They should help Ukraine and be in Ukraine

The President has questions for conscript men who left Ukraine illegally during the war. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky at a press conference with Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas.

"The issue is not about Ukrainian citizens who left from the very beginning of the war. There are people, men and women of all ages, who left, and this is understandable, there was a war. None of the people knew what would happen tomorrow, everyone was fleeing, we all opened the borders to any country so that people would not press each other at the border. This is one part. The second part is that we have defended 50 percent of the occupied territory, we have repelled the enemy, and our guys have been fighting for 2 years," the head of state said.

Zelensky added that there are questions to conscript men who left Ukraine during the war and illegally. He added that it is important not only to defend Ukraine at the front, but also to pay taxes to the budget.

"And this is a question to these people, to these men, if they are of mobilization age, they should help Ukraine and be in Ukraine. I am not talking about who should be at the front and who should not. There is a law. But it is a simple human rule. There are 6-8 taxpayers for every one soldier, and if you are in Ukraine and not at the front, but you work and pay taxes, you are also protecting the state and it is very necessary. But if you are abroad and of mobilization age, and you are not at the front, and you do not pay taxes, and you left illegally, then there are questions," the President said.

The Head of State emphasized that paying taxes is important because "there will be no money for the military, and if there is no money, there will be no military, no one to defend Ukraine. These are the rules of life".
