Subsidies for housing and communal services will not be reduced - Ministry of Social Policy

No cuts in housing and utility subsidies are expected in Ukraine, First Deputy Minister of Social Policy Daria Marchak said during a telethon.

"Subsidies are the most lively tool of social support, they are very responsive to all changes in indicators. After the increase in social benefits, the income of citizens will increase, and if there are no changes in tariffs, this may mean that the family has more income. And the formula for providing subsidies is calculated in such a way that no more than 15% of income is spent on utilities," said Marchak.

At the same time, she noted that the subsidy also responds to changes in tariffs, and in the event of any change in a family's utility costs, the subsidy is recalculated to adequately help the family.

"In general, I would like to reassure you: there is definitely no reduction in the amount of subsidies, no reduction in funding for subsidies, but on the contrary, we have an increase in spending on housing and utility subsidies in the state budget for 2024," Marchak explained.
