The scandal around the Hrynkevychs: Ukraine's Defense Ministry terminates contracts with family's companies

During a press conference, Deputy Defense Minister Vitaliy Polovenko said that the Defense Ministry is terminating all contracts with the Hrynkevych family companies.

"The position is that after the media publication, the Ministry of Defense immediately decided to terminate the contracts that had been concluded," he said when asked about the Defense Ministry's position on the Hrynkevych scandal.

As a reminder, a well-known Lviv businessman, Ihor Hrynkevych, who is one of the largest suppliers to the Defense Ministry, was arrested in late December for offering a half-million dollar bribe to one of the heads of the State Bureau of Investigation. Subsequently, an investigation by journalists pointed to the possible involvement of Hrynkevych and his family in the embezzlement of more than a billion hryvnias intended for the needs of the Armed Forces, including the purchase of military clothing.

Hrynkevych is currently in custody.
