The Government of Ukraine will ensure timely payment of pensions and benefits this year, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said.
At a government meeting on Wednesday, he noted that last year the state demonstrated exemplary fulfillment of social obligations. Social payments accounted for more than 12% of the consolidated budget expenditures.
"This year it will be one of our priorities. We will pay pensions and benefits on time. We have internal resources and support from our partners," Shmyhal said.
He reminded that as of January 1, 2024, a number of social standards have been updated in Ukraine, including the minimum wage and the subsistence minimum.
"The minimum wage has increased by 6% from UAH 6,700 to UAH 7,100. Another increase is planned for spring. The subsistence minimum increased by 12% on average to UAH 2,920. The minimum pension in Ukraine increased from UAH 2,093 to UAH 2,361. Indexation of pensions is planned from March 1," the Prime Minister said.
