The SBI reported on the preparation of an operation to discredit the agency through the media on the instructions of the Russian special services

Russia's special services are preparing a large-scale media operation to discredit the work of the State Bureau of Investigation. This was reported by the agency's press service.

According to the press service, the provocation is to be carried out by "members of a criminal organization suspected of treason." The agency reports that, on the instructions of the Russian special services, the criminals plan to spread fakes about the course of the pre-trial investigation against them, talking about political persecution.

"The media are planning to spread false and distorted information to level the facts and evidence proved by the investigation," the law enforcement agency said in a statement.

Together with the Security Service of Ukraine, the bureau's detectives went after the organization in November. The organization included "current and former MPs, an assistant to one of them, and an ex-prosecutor," the bureau said.

They are suspected of activities to discredit Ukraine's image in the international arena, in particular "to deteriorate diplomatic relations with the United States and complicate Ukraine's accession to the European Union and NATO." An MP who was a member of the group is already in custody without bail by court order, the SBI said.

The name of the current MP is not specified, but the information fits the description of Dubinsky, who has previously actively criticized the SBI leadership.
