According to forecasts, the birth rate in Ukraine in 2023 will be the lowest in the world in terms of the number of children born per woman. This was reported by El Pais.
The birth rate in Ukraine was low even before the war - 1.2 children per woman, which is less than the population reproduction rate, which should exceed 2 children per woman.
El Pais publishes the results of a study according to which the fertility rate in Ukraine in 2023 could reach 0.7 children per woman, which is three times less than the replacement rate.
That is, out of three couples of men and women, only one gives birth to a child. Accordingly, only one child is born for every six adults.
