The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the shooting of Ukrainian prisoners of war near Zaporizhzhia by the enemy. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
According to the investigation, in December 2023, during hostilities with the Ukrainian Defense Forces near the village of Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia region, Russian servicemen captured three Ukrainian defenders. An hour later, in violation of Article 3 of the Geneva Convention on to the Treatment of Prisoners of War, they were shot dead.
The incident was recorded on video, which quickly spread on the Internet.
"Under the procedural supervision of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, criminal proceedings have been initiated on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder," the statement said.
