The commander of the Tavria operational-strategic group of troops, Oleksandr Tarnavskyi, does not believe that the situation at the front has reached a dead end. He said this in an interview with the BBC.
According to him, today the situation at the front has precise logistical results, and we should not forget that we are "confronting one of the strongest armies, which has its own resources."
"The large-scale invasion of the Russian aggressor has been going on for almost two years now, and almost all analysts have been predicting that we will not be able to hold out. And if we do, it will be no more than a month or two. And the fact that the enemy has not achieved the stated goals so far is already a significant success of the Ukrainian people and their troops," the commander said.
Tarnavskyi believes that the enemy's main mistake is that it did not count on such a unification of the Ukrainian nation, on the support that continues today.
"Therefore, if someone says that this is a dead end - no, it is not a dead end, this is our state today," he said.
Tarnavskyi also said that Avdiivka is the direction of the main attack of the Russian army, which has intensified its offensive along the entire front line. In some places their attacks are of a distracting nature.
"Avdiivka is in the direction of their main attack. Maryinka is another direction. Novomykhailivka, for example, is a diversionary direction. The Novopavlivka direction also has its own purpose," said Tarnavskyi.
He believes that the Russian Federation wants to capture Avdiivka by the end of the year, the situation there is constantly changing, "both in a positive and negative way."
