The national roaming service (the ability to switch to the network of other operators) for Kyivstar subscribers was deliberately blocked, according to the State Service of Special Communications. The agency explained that it had deliberately disabled the ability to use other operators' networks to avoid overloading other networks.
"In order to avoid overloading the networks of other operators, at the request of the SBU, the National Center for Operational and Technical Management of Telecommunications Networks issued an order to temporarily block the national roaming service for Kyivstar subscribers," the State Special Communications Service said.
The agency also reported: "Specialists of the government's computer emergency response team CERT-UA, which operates under the State Special Communications Service, together with colleagues from the Security Service of Ukraine and representatives of the telecom operator, are working to investigate the cyber incident."
Citizens were urged to keep calm and use Wi-Fi networks as much as possible. At the same time, public institutions are asked to make their Wi-Fi networks available to all users.
