Traffic on the Polish side near the Dorohusk checkpoint has been restored via an alternative road after protesters blocked the main road with a truck with a trailer following the revocation of a protest permit by local authorities. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine Serhiy Derkach during a telethon.
"Yesterday, protesters even blocked traffic on one of the roads with a truck, but now the police are trying to remove it from the road, and trucks are passing through another road, so there are no traffic jams so far," he said.
According to Derkach, more than 100 trucks have used the Yahodyn-Dorohusk checkpoint since it was unblocked at 14:00 Kyiv time on December 11 to enter and leave Ukraine.
The Deputy Minister noted that the collection of data on violations of the protest conditions by the police and protesters, namely the non-passage of humanitarian aid and dangerous goods, contributed greatly to the unblocking of the Yahodyn-Dorogusk checkpoint.
"Yesterday, when the decision to open the checkpoint was made, the local head of Dorohusk stated that the reason for this decision was the protesters' failure to comply with the protest conditions," explained Derkach.
He reminded that three other Ukrainian-Polish checkpoints remain blocked but continue to operate.
Regarding the protest of Hungarian carriers at the Zahony-Chop checkpoint announced on December 11, the Deputy Minister noted that they do not interfere with the movement of freight transport.
"They are not blocking traffic. That is, the traffic at the Zahony-Chop checkpoint is still moving, but the protesters are near the road, controlled by the Hungarian police. So far, there have been no clashes or problems," Derkach described the current situation.
