The law on the independence of the SAPO is adopted in response to the requirements of the IMF and the EU

The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) has been organized into a separate prosecutorial body. This decision was made by the Verkhovna Rada on December 8. This was reported by the results of the vote in the parliament and the Telegram channel of MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.

Draft law No. 10060, aimed at establishing the independence of the SAPO, which was previously part of the Prosecutor General's Office, was supported by 298 votes in favor at the Rada meeting.

This reorganization of the SAPO was a response to the requirements of the European Commission and the International Monetary Fund.

The main changes envisaged by the law are aimed at improving the selection process for administrative positions in the SAPO, introducing a separate procedure for disciplinary investigations of SAPO prosecutors, and defining a mechanism for assessing the effectiveness of the SAPO to ensure accountability of its leadership.
