Blockade at the border: Slovak carriers suspend truck traffic through Vysne Nemecke

In Slovakia, carriers have started blocking truck traffic through the Vysne Nemecke checkpoint. This was reported by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda.

"According to the information received from the Border Police of the Slovak Republic, today at 13:30, the traffic blocking for trucks moving in the direction of the Slovak checkpoint "Vysne Nemecke" adjacent to the Ukrainian checkpoint "Uzhhorod" began. It was initiated and is being carried out by the Union of Slovak Carriers. The duration of the blockade has not been announced, although it is possible that such actions by Slovak carriers may be long-term," he said.

No information on the duration of the blockade has been received yet, but it is possible that these actions may be long-lasting. Currently, Ukrainian border guards are monitoring the situation, interacting with Slovak colleagues and determining the procedure for further passage of trucks and the categories of cargo to be allowed across the border.

Currently, there are about 300 trucks in front of the Vysne Nemecke checkpoint heading to Ukraine. All interacting authorities have been notified of the situation with the blocking of truck traffic. Passenger cars and buses continue to pass through as usual.
