Electricity tariffs may increase in Ukraine in 2024. This was stated by Kostyantyn Ushchapovskyi, Head of the Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC), in an interview with "Ekonomichna Pravda".
According to Ushchapovskyi, it is out of the question to raise the cost of utilities until the successful completion of the autumn-winter season. At the same time, he stated the need to revise electricity tariffs next year.
"Starting January 1, we have to make calculations," said the head of the National Commission.
Answering the question whether there will be a tariff increase after the heating season, Ushchapovskyi said that before making a final decision, the commission will consider the positions of different parties.
"I think we will propose some solutions, but they will go through the entire procedure: from public discussions, where we will listen to all parties, to making the final decision. If we take the next step, it should be a balanced one, with a maximum of 15%. This is how we come up to about UAH 3 per kilowatt-hour," said Ushchapovskyi.
He also noted that the current market electricity tariff is approximately UAH 5.5-5.8 per kilowatt-hour excluding VAT.
