The Ukrainian government has signed a contract with Rheinmetall for the supply of Leopard 1 systems, including 25 Leopard 1A5 main battle tanks, five armored recovery vehicles (Bergepanzer 2) and two driver training tanks.

According to Rheinmetall, the German-funded order, worth several million euros, also includes training, logistics, spare parts, maintenance and other support services. Delivery is scheduled for 2024.

The Leopard 1 systems are currently undergoing a major overhaul and are being prepared for use at Rheinmetall's plants.

"Thus, Rheinmetall continues to support Ukraine with regular supplies of tactical vehicles. Earlier, we were commissioned to supply Ukraine with a total of 80 Marder infantry fighting vehicles. Most of them are already in the country, where they have proven their resilience in current operations," the company said.

Rheinmetall also said it is ready to supply another twenty Marder infantry fighting vehicles as soon as it receives a corresponding order.

"At the end of 2023 - the beginning of 2024, Ukraine will also receive five Caracal vehicles. In addition, on behalf of the governments of the Netherlands and Denmark, the Group will supply 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine next year. In addition to the equipment, Rheinmetall helps the Ukrainian Armed Forces with ammunition, drones, medical supplies, etc.", Rheinmetall emphasized.
