The USA has bought 60 Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns from Jordan to send to Ukraine. The weapons were previously sold to Amman by the Netherlands, De Telegraaf reports.

According to the publication's sources, the US government paid 110 million euros for the vehicles.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte's government sold German-made weapons that went to Jordan in 2016 for €21 million, which the publication called a "ridiculous price." At the time, the deal was criticized as weakening the Dutch armed forces.

The Gepard can shoot down airplanes and helicopters. However, Ukraine will use these systems mainly to protect itself from drones, the publication comments.

De Telegraaf notes that this will save ammunition for more expensive anti-aircraft systems such as Patriot or Iris-T.
