Family with a two-month-old child came under fire in Kherson region

On Monday afternoon, Russians shelled a car in the suburbs of Kherson with artillery, killing a 64-year-old man who was driving the car and wounding a 36-year-old woman and her two-month-old child, Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko said.

"Juvenile policemen are rushing to Kherson hospital to the sound of a special signal. A two-month-old baby is in their arms. At noon, Russians shelled a car in the suburbs of Kherson with artillery as the girl and her family were returning from a medical examination," said the minister.

He said that the car caught fire as a result of the shelling.

"The 36-year-old mother is in hospital in serious condition. The man who was driving the car was killed. Presumably, it is the child's 64-year-old grandfather. His identity will be established by an expert examination, as the body was burned almost to the ground," added the Interior Minister.

According to him, the girl was preliminarily diagnosed with a mine-blast head injury.

"The condition is of moderate severity. Doctors are providing the necessary assistance and are fighting for her mother's life," Klymenko said.
