Polish carriers may end the blockade of checkpoints on the Ukrainian border tonight. This was announced by the head of the Association of International Carriers Volodymyr Balin.
"Polish carriers are currently negotiating with the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure. They demand that the latter address the European Commission with a request to cancel the liberalization of transportation for Ukraine. As for the issues related to the demands to the Ukrainian government, Polish officials should address them directly with our government. And for some time. While the negotiations are ongoing, Polish carriers were supposedly going to stop the strike. At least we hope so, because the border is actually closed, and no one will be able to work in this mode," Balin said.
It should be noted that the situation at the Polish border is very difficult due to the carriers' strike. The queues at some checkpoints are already more than 5,000 trucks long. And if the checkpoint system continues to operate as it is now, they will have to stand for a record 217 days or more than 7 months.
