The pilot of the ship that was killed by a Russian missile attack had Ukrainian citizenship. The sailor was an employee of the Sea Ports Administration. This was stated by Natalia Humeniuk, a spokeswoman for the Southern Defense Forces of Ukraine, during a telethon.
According to her, the Russians hit almost the captain's bridge of the Liberian-flagged vessel. At the time of the attack, a Ukrainian pilot was there. Three other crew members were also injured. Their lives are not in danger.
"There was also information about the injury of another port worker. The injuries are not critical, most likely a barotrauma. As for the health condition of the crew members, only one was hospitalized, the rest were treated on the spot and remained on board the ship," the spokeswoman said.
Humeniuk added that the ship was severely damaged as a result of the missile attack.
