All the injections into Ukrainian society about elections during a full-scale war with Russia are irresponsible. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in his evening address.
The Head of State emphasized that now is not the time for widespread celebrations or other impudent things in the rear, which are unacceptable in times of war and when the military live with completely different emotions.
"And we all understand that now, in wartime, when there are many challenges, it is absolutely irresponsible to somehow... lightly and playfully throw the topic of elections into society... We have to decide that now is the time of defense, the time of battle, on which the fate of the state and people depends, and not the time of throwing, which only Russia expects from Ukraine. I believe that elections are not the right time," Zelensky added.
The President noted that if it is necessary to "put an end" to a political dispute and continue to work only in unity, the state has the appropriate structures that can provide society with all the necessary answers.
For his part, the head of the party "Servant of the People", David Arakhamia, said that it was necessary to close the topic of the elections in Ukraine for some time.
"For all those who have been raising the topic of elections this spring, the answer from the President is short and simple - elections are not on the agenda. I think it's time to put this topic to rest for a while and focus on strengthening the state's defense capabilities," he wrote on Telegram.
