Cooperation between the defense industries of Ukraine and the European Union can become a "cornerstone" of the EU's common foreign and security policy. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in his speech at the ministerial conference "Wider, Stronger Union - Preparing the EU for Enlargement and Candidate Countries for Accession".
"Russia's aggression against Ukraine has demonstrated that the EU needs to become stronger in order to respond effectively to current challenges. Strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the EU in the defense industry will become a cornerstone of the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy. We need a strong and proactive EU, capable of addressing and preventing them. And this is the contribution that Ukraine can make," Kuleba emphasized.
The minister emphasized that Ukraine is actively implementing the necessary reforms to start negotiations on joining the EU.
He also emphasized that the enlargement of the European Union and the admission of new member states should not be held hostage to the EU reform process.
