The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, said that F-16 fighter jets will be less useful as Russia has improved its air defense. He said this in an interview with The Economist.
According to him, by restraining the supply of long-range missiles and tanks, Western countries allowed Russia to regroup and strengthen its defense after the successful offensives of the defense forces in Kharkiv and Kherson regions in the autumn of 2022.
"These systems were most relevant for us last year, but they appeared only this year. Similarly, the F-16 aircraft that are due to arrive next year are now less useful, partly because Russia has improved its air defense," Zaluzhnyi said.
The general emphasized that an experimental version of the S-400 missile system can reach the city of Dnipro.
